What are you attracting when it comes to your practice and results?
The concepts behind the Law of Attraction have been around for centuries. But the phrase began to be immortalized in myriad publications, seminars and even movies in the last few decades. Successful people view it as a way of packaging what they already knew to be unequivocally true – that you achieve what you believe in and focus your thoughts and actions on.
Specifically: You are a living magnet. You inevitably attract the people, the events and circumstances into your life that harmonize with your dominant thought.
You must recognize that positive-minded, successful people attract and surround themselves with other positive-minded, successful people. Conversely, misery loves company; negative people attract one another and band together to validate their lack of responsibility for everything that is not right in their lives, so they keep getting more of the same. Applying the Law of Attraction There are three essential elements to this Law:
- Specificity — Be extremely specific about your target, goal, desired result, or outcome. If not, you can inadvertently attract the wrong result.
- Timeline – Set a reasonable timeframe or deadline for what you want to achieve.
- Belief – The first two won’t matter if you don’t wholeheartedly believe in your goal. It must be reasonably attainable, though. I’m a proponent of “big scary goals” that push people’s limits, but setting an outrageous goal belies that you don’t believe it’s possible, which completely disables the magnet.
Productivity Hack Think of applying the Law of Attraction as a daily productivity hack to help you get better results. Use the simple technique of regularly asking yourself, “What am I trying to do? Am I attracting the people, events and circumstances that will get me to my specific goals in the desired timeframes? And do my attitudes, words and actions reflect that I truly believe in my dominant thought and goals?”
Also, engage this Law with your team. For example, if someone laments “We’ve tried everything and nothing works to increase new patients.” Break the negative magnetic field by asking, “What specifically is the goal? How are you tracking it? Where do we stand now? What’s your action plan and timeline?” There really is no neutral position when it comes to the Law of Attraction. If you’re on the fence about whether this works, I challenge you to force yourself to have a more positive attitude for one full week; you will be amazed by the results you see!
